Flipcount is a profit and inventory book for resellers on Android. It is published by ByteHaven Studios LLC. This policy describes what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
Flipcount does not collect any data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no telemetry. It cannot send your records anywhere, because it has no permission to use the internet.
What you enter
Your items, purchase costs, sales, marketplace fees, marketplace listings, expenses, mileage trips and mileage rates are stored in a database in the app's private storage on your phone, as are the names and payout terms of anyone you sell for on consignment. Item and receipt photos you add are copied into the same private storage. No other app can read them, and uninstalling the app deletes them.
Mileage is a log you type in. Flipcount does not use your location and has no location permission.
Photos
When you add a photo to an item, you pick it with Android's photo picker or take it with your camera app. Flipcount receives only that one photo and keeps a private copy. It does not ask for access to your photo library.
Camera
Flipcount asks for the camera permission for two things: taking an item or receipt photo, and scanning a barcode or one of your own printed labels. Android asks you first, and you can say no — everything else keeps working, and you can still type a code or pick a photo.
When you scan, the camera picture is read on your phone to find the code and then thrown away. No scanned picture is saved, and nothing is sent anywhere. Flipcount never records video or sound.
App lock
You can turn on an optional lock (Settings → App lock) so Flipcount asks for your fingerprint, face or the phone's screen lock before it shows your books. It is off unless you turn it on.
The check is done by Android, on your phone. Flipcount only hears whether it passed. It never sees, receives or stores your fingerprint, your face, or your PIN, pattern or password, and it keeps no PIN of its own.
The lock keeps your books off the screen until the check passes. It does not encrypt them. Home-screen widgets you added still show their figures, and the recent-apps screen may show the last page you had open. If you remove the phone's screen lock, the app lock turns itself off.
Network access
Flipcount makes no network requests.
- The app does not declare the
INTERNETpermission. An app without that permission cannot open a network connection at all. This is enforced by Android, not by our good intentions. - The permissions it does declare are
com.android.vending.BILLING, so Google Play can process the Pro purchase (yearly or lifetime); the camera (see above); and notifications plus start-after-restart, for the optional reminder about listings that have sat a long time; andUSE_BIOMETRIC, so the optional app lock can ask Android to check your fingerprint, face or screen lock (on Android 8 it goes by its older name,USE_FINGERPRINT). None of them lets the app reach the internet.
Backups and moving to a new phone
- No cloud backup. Flipcount is excluded from Android's automatic backup to your Google account. Your records are never copied to the cloud by the app or by Android.
- Phone-to-phone transfer. On Android 9 and newer, when you move to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer (by cable or directly between the two phones), your Flipcount records and photos go along, so the new phone keeps your books. That copy goes straight from your old phone to your new one; it never reaches us. On Android 8 nothing is included in any backup.
- Backup file. You can save your whole ledger, with its item photos and receipt images, as one backup file (a zip) to a place you choose with Android's file picker, and restore it again later. Where that file goes is up to you. The file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust.
Reports and exports
The Schedule C worksheet PDF and the backup file are written only where you choose, through Android's standard file picker. Flipcount does not ask for broad access to your phone's storage.
Purchases
Flipcount Pro, yearly or lifetime, is processed by Google Play Billing. Your payment details are handled entirely by Google and are never seen by Flipcount or by ByteHaven Studios. The app receives only a yes/no answer about whether a Pro plan is active. Google's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
When data leaves your device
Only when you send it. Send feedback opens your own email app with a message to support@bytehavenstudios.com, containing the app version in the subject line. Nothing is sent unless you press send, and you can see everything before you do. Rate on Google Play and Privacy policy open the Play Store or your browser, which are separate apps with their own policies.
Not tax advice
Reports and the Schedule C worksheet organize your own records. They are not tax advice; check them with a tax professional before you file.
Children
Flipcount is a business tool for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete. You can delete your records in the app, or all of them by uninstalling it. If you email us, we keep that conversation only to answer you, and you can ask us to delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at https://flipcount.bytehavenstudios.com/privacy/
with a new effective date.
